Moais in Motion

Welcome to the landing page for the 2013 Moais in Motion program.

Known for the past three years as “Walking Moais,” the program’s name has been changed to “Moais in Motion.” The reason for the change is to incorporate all forms of physical activity, not just walking.

The program has two focuses: Getting people to becoming physically active and creating supportive groups of friends. Why? Because the feeling of belonging and being physically active greatly increases your life expectancy and overall happiness.

Participants who sign up will compete for prizes and bragging rights. Each moai member keeps track of how much time they spent being active. To qualify to track minutes, members must be physically active with at least two other members of their moai in order to count their times. Once they have met that qualifying walk/run/swim/etc. individual members can then track all other forms of activity they do by themselves or with their moais for the week.

If you need help finding a moai or creating one, please contact Jenny at Parks and Rec (jdavis@city.albertlea.org).
